Nine matches on Wednesday will conclude matchday 2 of the 2026-27 UEFA Champions League. We have an Iberian clash between Porto and Real Betis to preview, along with PSG at Manchester City. The other set of predictions covers matches for Liverpool and Real Madrid. Here’s your look at another European night to savour.
UEFA Champions League Wednesday Predictions
FC Porto at Real Betis
Real Betis aren’t just plucky underdogs anymore, they are one of the best teams in La Liga and playing at home, they should be able to challenge a strong Porto side that have 24 points from 8 games in Portugal and lead the league by 5 points already. Porto’s Polish wall of Jan Bednarek and Jakub Kiwior is one of the best in Europe, while Gabri Veiga, a 24-year-old Spaniard, has scored four times domestically. Bednarek is suspended for this one, and William Gomes is out too.
Betis dominated Osasuna on the weekend winning 5-2, their top rated outfield player is defender Marc Batra, but Antony and Isco are pure-class too. Antony and Junior Firpo have fitness questions, but Troy Parrott can step up in the forward line for Betis.
Porto can play cagey, controlled football but Betis at home as been one of the most fun environments in Europe over the last 12 months.
Prediction: Real Betis 2-1
Stuttgart at Slovan Bratislava
Slovan is at home but I’m not sold on their quality as PSG hammered them 6-1 and they drew against Skalica on the weekend. Slovenian international Andraz Sporar is their top scorer at 32-years-old. Stuttgart beat Paderborn on the weekend to return to winning ways after a poor domestic start. Defender Maximilian Mittelstadt has been their standout, but he’s injured for this one, as is Luca Jaquez and at a couple of other first-choice players.
Still, Stuttgart look to be a level up compared to Bratislava, who may struggle to get points this UCL League season.
Prediction: Stuttgart 2-1

AEK Athens at Shakhtar Donetsk
Two of the best teams from the lower leagues of Europe. AEK Athens are second in Greece with Barnabas Varga having scored freely. The trouble for Athens is he’s expected to be out of this matchup. Shakhtar, playing in London at Stamford Bridge, will get Pedrinho back from an injury but may miss Marlon Santos. Kaua Elias is their best attacker. This is a pretty even matchup, but Donetsk’s Brazilian attack could shine and give them enough for all three points.
Prediction: Shakhtar Donetsk 2-1
PSG at Manchester City

The off-field drama around the future of Manchester City hasn’t dented their on-field form, as they top the Premier League and haven’t lost. PSG have stumbled in Ligue 1, but remain Europe’s Champions and a great team presently, including the derby win away in Marseille. Ferran Torres, ex Manchester City, is now a key man at PSG as they are retooled and reloaded for another Championship chase. Erling Haaland and City move the ball around and create goalscoring chances at well. Both squads are nearly fit, it’s a titanic clash, but at the Etihad it’s advantage City on form alone.
Prediction: Manchester City 3-2
Aston Villa at Fenerbahce
Aston Villa know how to score but they concede going the other way just as much this season. Villa’s win over Club Brugge looks impressive now, while they drew Brentford on the weekend in the Premier League. John McGinn and Nicolas Jackson being two of the players to watch for the visitors. Leon Goretzka’s fitness is a slight concern, while Ian Maatsen is still out.
Fenerbahce had an 8-0 win over Eyupsor in the domestic league on September 20th and currently sport the best goal difference in Turkiye. Mason Greenwood and Ederson have been among the standouts. This match is ultimately another test of the Premier League’s quality.
Playing in Istanbul, I expect Fenerbahce to get points, but not all of them.
Prediction: 1-1 Draw
