President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has appointed Aggamaha Panditha Senior Professor Ven. Gallelle Sumanasiri Thera as the new Chancellor of Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka.
The appointment letter was presented to the Thera by Secretary to the President Dr. Nandika Sanath Kumanayake at the Presidential Secretariat on October 23, according to the President’s Media Division (PMD).
Ven. Sumanasiri Thera, Chief Incumbent of the Kotamudungala Rajamaha Viharaya in Molagoda, previously served as Vice Chancellor of Rajarata University of Sri Lanka and the Buddhist and Pali University of Sri Lanka.
The Thera holds a bachelor’s degree in Buddhist Philosophy and a Master of Philosophy degree from the University of Kelaniya, as well as a Master of Philosophy and a PhD from the University of Delhi, India.
He has also completed an advanced diploma in Chinese language at Peking University in China. (Newswire)
