SEOUL, Oct. 15 (Yonhap) -- Taihan Cable & Solution Co., South Korea's second-largest cable maker, said Thursday it has secured a 120 billion-won (US$89 million) order to supply a high-voltage cable system in the United States.
Taihan Cable won the turnkey contract from an unidentified U.S. power network operator to supply a high-voltage alternating current (HVAC) cable system, the company said in a press release.
Under the turnkey contract, the company will be responsible for the entire project, including engineering, manufacturing, installation and testing, it said.
"Demand for large-scale turnkey cable projects in the U.S. is growing rapidly, driven by the expansion of the artificial intelligence (AI) industry and increased investment in data centers. We will continue to pursue business opportunities in the U.S. to meet a wide range of customer needs," a company official said.
The company had a cable order backlog worth 4.06 trillion won at the end of June.
