Ahmad Vahidi, commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), has warned that no extra-regional power has the right to intervene in the Strait of Hormuz or the Persian Gulf.
The Mehr News Agency reported early Tuesday, October 13, that Vahidi made the remarks on a social media platform.
According to the report, Vahidi also said that no extra-regional power has the right to maintain a dominant presence in the Strait of Hormuz or the Persian Gulf.
The remarks come as US military forces maintain a significant presence in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz and have imposed a naval blockade on Iran.
Meanwhile, Iran continues to claim full control over the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf and has threatened ships as part of its efforts to put pressure on oil trade.
