Kobe Bryant’s tenth signature sneaker, the Nike Kobe 10, has only just begun its upgraded Protro lifecycle, but news is already emerging about what’s next for the late basketball legend’s performance-meets-retro line.
According to @zsneakerheadz, the Nike Kobe 7 is next up for the reengineered Protro treatment. And while the model will likely continue the current trend of debuting at retail in an all-white “Halo” tribute colorway for Aug. 23 birthday, the early news confirms that one of the Kobe 7’s original fan-favorite styles will also be making a return.
The Nike Kobe 7 “Invisibility Cloak” from 2012 will receive its first-ever rerelease when the model undergoes its Protro transformation in 2027. With its iridescent color-changing upper, the Invisibility Cloak colorway was a reference to Bryant’s well-documented love of the Harry Potter series and its magical garments.
Specific Prortro upgrades to the Nike Kobe 7 have not yet been confirmed, but fans can likely expect changes centered around a more breathable, lightweight construction and improved outsole traction with potential cushioning updates in the form of Cushlon 3.0 foam and a full-length Zoom Strobel.
Further Nike Kobe 7 Protro styles have not yet been confirmed, but readers can expect new pairs to be released throughout holiday ’27 and well into 2028.
More immediately, fans can expect to see plenty more of the Nike Kobe 10 Protro, which will be released in a handful of styles before a new ZoomX-cushioned Flyknit iteration is introduced in 2027. Also still in production is the Nike Kobe 3 Low Protro, which will be released this month in a new “Mamba Eterno” look followed by a Jalen Brunson player exclusive in December. Meanwhile, select styles for other fan-favorite models such as the Kobe 4, Kobe 5, Kobe 6, Kobe 8 and Kobe 9 are also in the works.
The Nike Kobe 7 Protro Invisibility Cloak will be released during fall 2027. Pricing, style cold and availability details have not yet been confirmed. Readers can find a full look at the original 2012 version in the gallery below courtesy of GOAT.
