It’s nearly that time for Terry Bradshaw to hang up his microphone next to his cleats.
The former Steelers quarterback, who transitioned to broadcasting and television in 1984 after retiring from the NFL in 1983, revealed that his time on screen is nearly over.
“I realize my time on television as a sports broadcaster is coming to an end,” the 78-year-old Bradshaw said in an interview with “NBC News Daily.”
Fox colleague Curt Menefee previously said the former signal caller would never leave the NFL pregame show, and this is an honest admission from Bradshaw about his future.
Bradshaw started his career in broadcasting with CBS as a color commentator before moving into studio shows in 1990 and joining Fox in 1994, where he’s been ever since.
“I just love life. Billy Graham said, and I never forgot this quote, he said: ‘The day you retire is the day you start dying,’” Bradshaw told NBC. “I’m a workaholic; I love to work.”
Bradshaw has been on “Fox NFL Sunday” since its first episode, alongside Howie Long, the only two original members still on the show.
James Brown hosted and Jimmy Johnson, fresh off leaving the Cowboys as head coach, was the other member of the original four.
The Pro Football Hall of Famer has enjoyed a successful broadcasting career after winning four Super Bowls with the Steelers.
Bradshaw was the No. 1 pick in the 1970 NFL Draft after attending Louisiana Tech University and won the league’s MVP award in 1978.
He’s also spent time as an actor, having appeared in different movies and television shows, including an appearance in “Everybody Loves Raymond” and “Failure to Launch.”
Bradshaw even has a star on the Hollywood “Walk of Fame.”
He also appeared on “Celebrity Family Feud” and starred in “The Bradshaw Bunch,” an E! reality show about his family that lasted two seasons.
If this is his final season on camera, Bradshaw will have lived nearly his entire life on camera between the beginning of his NFL to career to now.
This is his 43rd season on television.
