Cam Skattebo has found himself in a difficult position after receiving zero carries against the New Orleans Saints.
Skattebo has made a name for himself with his physical running style, aggressive approach, and willingness to fight for extra yards.
For a young running back, not receiving any carries in a game can be frustrating, especially when he is looking to establish himself as a consistent contributor.
Cam Skattebo Breaks Silence on Harbaugh’s Punishment
In a recent conversation with the media after the loss, Skattebo shared his views on the situation, explaining that he believes he was punished for what he did last week. He said:
“First half by design. I mean we had all those guys were taking equal reps you know, in the first half We were trying to see who could you know, make something happen You know, we could we could kinda get a hot hand and earn it Nobody’s nobody’s really taken the ball by the horns Motor really hadn’t had a chance to take the ball by the horns so we thought we could hit them in the mix too So we put four guys up and see if we could get something going for the run game. That was the idea”

The running back’s comments have attracted fans’ attention, as his lack of opportunities may have been connected to a disciplinary decision rather than simply the team’s offensive strategy. For someone who is still young in his career, earning the coaching staff’s trust is an important part of securing a regular role.
Head coach John Harbaugh has also faced questions about his coaching style and his handling of Skattebo. The priority for the running back will be responding to the situation and demonstrating that he can meet the team’s expectations.
It is still not fully confirmed what Skattebo meant by saying he was punished or whether that decision directly explains his lack of carries against the Saints. The situation has also raised questions about how the coaching staff plans to use Skattebo in the coming games. Being left without a carry can be disappointing for a running back, particularly when he is competing for a bigger role in the offense.
However, the decision to distribute opportunities among multiple players could also reflect the coaching staff’s attempt to find the most effective combination. Skattebo will now have to make the most of his next opportunity and show that he deserves a larger workload. Fans will be watching closely to see whether his role changes and how Harbaugh handles the situation moving forward.
The coming games could prove crucial for Skattebo as he looks to rebuild momentum, earn more playing time, and demonstrate his value to Harbaugh’s offensive plans.
