Samsung Electronics (005930.KS) and LG Electronics (066570.KS) unveiled a wide array of artificial intelligence technologies at South Korea's largest electronics and information technology exhibition. The companies are expanding AI applications beyond everyday products such as home appliances and smartphones into industrial settings including robotics, data centers and smart factories.
The 57th Korea Electronics Show (KES 2026), which opened on the 13th at COEX in Seoul's Gangnam District, drew about 500 companies and institutions, including Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics and LG Innotek (011070.KS). The exhibition, running through the 16th, features advanced technologies across six categories, including AI transformation (AX), robotics and mobility.
Samsung Electronics packed AI appliances, mobile devices and display technology into an 869-square-meter booth. At the entrance, the company installed a media art display linking 28 Galaxy Z Fold 8 handsets with "Project Luna," a sculpture symbolizing Samsung's AI ecosystem. Its ultra-high-definition Micro RGB display was also given a prominent position.
Inside the booth, visitors could try out AI features on the Bespoke AI Combo all-in-one washer-dryer and the Bespoke AI Family Hub refrigerator. Samsung also set up a "Galaxy Heritage Zone" tracing seven years of technological progress since it launched its first foldable phone in 2019.
LG Electronics divided its 902-square-meter booth into two spaces representing daily life and industry. In the daily life section, the company showed its CLOiD home robot alongside ultra-premium appliances and Smart Cottage, a modular housing unit. It also unveiled Spielraum, a mobile living space that applies LG's AI Home technology to a Kia (000270.KS) PV5 vehicle.
On the industrial side, LG highlighted its Chip to Chiller integrated cooling solution for AI data centers. In the smart factory area, three LG MoMa (Mobile Manipulator) autonomous collaborative robots transported materials and performed tasks to demonstrate a future manufacturing floor.
LG Innotek presented autonomous driving sensing technology that combines automotive cameras with lidar and radar. Speaking to reporters the same day, LG Innotek President Moon Hyuk-soo said flip-chip ball grid array (FC-BGA) substrates, a high-value semiconductor product, should deliver improved earnings from next year on the strength of long-term supply contracts. "Glass substrates are in the development stage through pilot operations at our Gumi plant, and there is a possibility we will begin supplying them around 2028," the president said.
