TV presenter Ruth Langsford has paid tribute to her “beautiful” dog Maggie following her death aged 16, saying: “We will treasure our memories forever.”
The 66-year-old adopted the border collie cross from a Dogs Trust rescue centre in 2011 with her then-husband, broadcaster Eamonn Holmes.
Taking to Instagram today (October 14), Langsford revealed with a “heavy heart” that her beloved pet had “gone to sleep forever”.
The former This Morning presenter shared a picture of Maggie smiling with a chew toy shaped like a bottle of champagne along with an emotional message.
Writing to her 1.1 million followers, she said: “It is with a heavy heart that I tell you our beautiful Maggie has gone to sleep forever.”
“She was 16 years old and sadly this was her time. Her passing was painless and peaceful and we were with her until the very end.
“We are so thankful to have had her in our lives for 15 years… she gave us so much joy & unconditional love. We will treasure our memories forever.
“Rest in peace our beautiful girl.”

The touching tribute was flooded with messages of support and sympathy including from model and actress Kelly Brook who said: “Awwww Maggie. I’m so sorry.”
Former Hollyoaks star Gemma Atkinson commented: “Sending lots of love, Ruth. Beautiful Maggie.”
Irish TV personality Vogue Williams, actress Samantha Giles and broadcaster Lucy Alexander were also among the stars offering their condolences.
Langsford often shared posts on social media about her “precious girl” Maggie, and shared a post in 2024 revealing she underwent a procedure to remove a “little wart”.

She and her ex-husband Holmes announced their split in 2024, but the GB News presenter has previously revealed they “shared custody” of their beloved pet.
Holmes, who has mobility issues due to severe back pain, wrote on Instagram last year that Langsford “does all the hard stuff” with Maggie because of his “wheelchair restrictions”.
He also expressed hope to adopt another rescue dog in the future, and praised his pet in the post by saying she “changed my life”.
