- Al-Ujairi Scientific Center forecasts longer nights, chances of rainfall during the 13-day seasonal phase
Cooler nights, increasingly chilly water and a greater chance of rainfall are expected as Kuwait enters Al-Simak, the second phase of the Al-Wasm season, on Thursday, October 29, according to the Al-Ujairi Scientific Center. The centre said the phase would last 13 days, marking the onset of a noticeable drop in nighttime temperatures as seasonal weather conditions begin to change.
During Al-Simak, nights become longer and winds tend to be more humid around sunrise, while water temperatures remain particularly cold in the early morning. The centre also noted that the period coincides with the earliest time of the year for the noon prayer.
Traditionally, people used natural signs to identify the arrival of this seasonal phase. According to the centre, an increase in sheep births was among the indicators observed by earlier generations. The period is also associated with a higher possibility of rainfall.
The centre noted that sunset occurs earlier and nighttime hours increase noticeably during Al-Simak. It advised the public to follow prayer times and other relevant timings through the Al-Ujairi application.
