The Garmin Fenix 9 and the Fenix 9 Pro have been compatible with Spotify, Deezer and Amazon Music since their launch in August, and offer 64 GB of storage space to download up to 7,000 tracks and store them directly on the smartwatch. Now users are getting a fourth streaming app to choose from.

The Garmin Fenix 9 ($999 on Amazon) and the Fenix 9 Pro offer 64 GB of storage, more than most smartwatches. This storage can be used not only for apps and map data, but also to download music and store it locally on the watch. According to Garmin, there is enough storage for up to 7,000 tracks, which can then be played during a workout even without an active internet connection.
Previously, music could be downloaded via Spotify, Amazon Music or Deezer. Now YouTube Music is also compatible with Garmin's latest flagship smartwatches. The new version of the app is now available to download for free from the Garmin Connect IQ Store. The Fenix 9 (Pro) is already officially listed among the compatible smartwatches, but according to some user reports, the version for the latest members of the Fenix series is not yet available for all users to download.
To use YouTube Music on a Garmin smartwatch, a paid subscription is required: either a YouTube Music Premium subscription for $11.99 per month or a YouTube Premium subscription, which costs $15.99 per month but also provides ad-free video streaming on YouTube for the extra cost. Unlike the smartphone app, it is not possible to stream music via YouTube Music. Instead, albums, tracks and playlists must be downloaded before they can be played.
