Finding a reliable tight end streamer can be a weekly headache for fantasy football managers. Week 6, though, offers several options with encouraging recent trends. Each brings a different combination of target volume, red-zone potential, and matchup appeal. Now, nobody is guaranteed to deliver a breakout. Still, identifying the tight end with the clearest path to opportunities can give managers a valuable edge. Here are four options worth considering before finalizing your Week 6 lineup.
Juwan Johnson, NO (@ NYG)
Juwan Johnson is a potential bounce-back candidate after struggling to make an impact against Minnesota in Week 5. He caught four of five targets for just 16 yards. He finished with fewer than 50 receiving yards for the first time in five contests.
The disappointing performance came against a tough Vikings defense. Now, managers should be careful not to overreact to one quiet outing. Johnson’s five targets still indicate that he remained involved in the passing game, even if those opportunities produced little yardage.

A Week 6 matchup against the New York Giants gives Johnson an opportunity to get back on track. If New Orleans continues to involve him as a short-area target, he could collect enough receptions to provide useful production in PPR formats. His ceiling will depend on whether he can turn those opportunities into more substantial gains or find the end zone.
Johnson is not the safest option on this list, but his recent involvement makes him worth considering. He is a reasonable bounce-back streamer, particularly in deeper leagues.
Brenton Strange, JAC (vs. HOU)
Brenton Strange has quietly become one of Jacksonville’s more dependable receiving options. That makes him an appealing tight end streamer for Week 6. He has recorded seven receptions in each of his last two games. He leads all Jaguars in catches on both occasions. Across that span, Strange has hauled in 14 of 16 targets for 163 yards. He has demonstrated that he can contribute without needing a touchdown to make his presence felt. That gives fantasy managers a potentially useful reception-based floor. The main missing ingredient has been scoring. Strange has not found the end zone since Week 1.
A Week 6 matchup against Houston gives Strange another chance to build on his recent production. His reception volume is particularly valuable in leagues that reward catches. Strange is one of the strongest streaming options this week. His recent target volume provides a foundation that does not depend entirely on touchdowns.
Pat Freiermuth, PIT (@ TB)
Pat Freiermuth is coming off his most encouraging fantasy football performance of the season yet. He caught five of seven targets for 44 yards and two touchdowns against Indianapolis. The Steelers tight end was particularly effective near the goal line. He caught two of Aaron Rodgers’ three touchdown passes. That red-zone involvement gives Freiermuth a clear path to fantasy production.
The challenge for managers is determining whether that scoring output can be repeated. His fantasy value remains tied partly to opportunities in scoring territory. Still, Freiermuth has shown enough involvement to remain a viable streaming candidate. His connection with Rodgers near the goal line is encouraging. Another opportunity against Tampa Bay could produce useful results. Freiermuth is a touchdown-upside streamer with a reasonable path to another useful outing.
Tyler Higbee, LAR (vs. ARI)
Tyler Higbee rounds out the list as a particularly intriguing option. That’s after his role expanded in the Rams’ passing offense. The veteran tight end finished second on Los Angeles in receiving behind Puka Nacua on Monday night. It reinforced his growing importance as the team navigates injuries within its tight end group.
Higbee has caught 18 passes for 212 yards and a touchdown over his last three games. That production gives him a stronger foundation than a player relying on one isolated scoring performance. His increased involvement also creates opportunities for fantasy football managers to benefit from a role that appears to be growing.
A Week 6 matchup against Arizona offers another chance to capitalize. His recent production makes him especially appealing to managers looking for a streamer with both a respectable floor and room for further growth.
There is also encouraging news regarding his availability. Higbee is off the injury report for Sunday’s game against the Cardinals despite not practicing Friday.
Final Takeaway
Strange and Higbee offer the most encouraging combination of recent involvement and consistency. Meanwhile, Freiermuth brings red-zone upside. Johnson remains a bounce-back candidate. Check final lineup news before choosing your Week 6 starter.
