The San Francisco 49ers have already dealt with several injuries through the first five weeks of the NFL season, and it seems that will continue into Week 6.
According to NFL insider Mike Garafolo, the 49ers have ruled out veteran wide receiver Christian Kirk for their "Monday Night Football" matchup against the Washington Commanders.
As a result, the team also elevated wide receiver Malik Turner and linebacker Jalen Graham from the practice squad.
It's certainly not the news 49ers fans were hoping to hear as the team is already without wide receivers Ricky Pearsall, De'Zhaun Stribling and Demarcus Robinson, all of whom are on injured reserve.
Kirk is also on injured reserve with a left calf strain that he suffered in training camp, but some believed he could make his return to the field this week after the 49ers opened his 21-day practice window.
Unfortunately, that will not be the case, and San Francisco will have to rely on its limited arsenal of weapons, including running back Christian McCaffrey, wide receivers Mike Evans and Brandin Cooks and tight end George Kittle.

Kirk joined the 49ers in March on a one-year, $6 million contract. He brought some much-needed depth to the team's wide receiver room as an eight-year vet. However, San Francisco is still waiting to see what type of contribution he can make to its 2026 campaign, which is gotten off to a nice 5-0 start.
A a second-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals, Kirk has recorded 432 catches for 5,415 yards and 30 touchdowns in his professional career.
