Are we watching Coronation Street or the classic horror film Scream? Because it seems Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor) is about to have a chilling close encounter with Ghostface.
When it comes to Final Girls, Sally is not exactly Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell).
In the event of a masked intruder creeping into her home, the middle-class social climber of the Cobbles is more likely to be worried about her Kirsty Allsop inspired patio furniture than fending off the attacked with a knife.
Yet in Coronation Street’s upcoming Halloween episode, our Sal faces a potential slasher when she finds a ghostly figure standing right behind her!
Poor Sally. Life with the Metcalfes is scary enough already.
She’s basically living with Manchester’s answer to Damian from the Omen, Lucy Parkinson (Anya Dewin).
The troubled daughter of Tim Metcalfe’s cousin Richie (Nathan Sussex), Lucy came to live with the Websters after her mother was killed during a heated domestic incident, seemingly by her father… although that might not be the case.
Recent story developments strongly suggest that Lucy herself is responsible for the murder, as she recently confessed to her incarcerated dad during a prison phone call that it was ‘all her fault.’
Bad news for Sal. She’s already been on the receiving end of Lucy’s anger when the demon teen attacked her over a casual comment about her mum.
That’s not even the only potential threat Sally could face.
Let’s not forget, she and hubby Tim fostered three other children, Joanie, Shanice, and Brody Michaelis (Savanna Pennington, Molly Kilduff and Ryan Mulvey).
Shanice and Joanie are the daughters of nightmare neighbour Mick Michaelis (Joe Layton), currently banged up for the murder of beloved Cobbles Copper PC Craig Tinker (Colson Smith). Their mum Lou Michaelis (Farrel Hegarty) is also serving time for a violent attack on Gary Windass (Mikey North).
Is one of the Michaelis monsters about to stage a jailbreak and come after Sally to get their kids back? Or All will be revealed in next week’s Corrie Spooktacular.
Lucy begs Sally and Tim to let her go to Kayla’s Halloween party. But when she admits that Kayla’s parents are away, Sally puts her foot down – it’s a no. Tim tries to talk a furious Lucy round and assures her that Sally has her best interests at heart.
Sally and Tim persuade Lucy to accompany Jonie to the Rovers’ Halloween party. When Joanie reads an article about a riot at her Dad’s prison, Sally and Tim play it down.
As Tim, Joanie and Lucy head off to the party, Sally hears a noise outside. There’s someone at the window…
… and it’s a ghost!
Panicked, Sally is in a right old state as she worries to Lisa (Vicky Myers) and Carla (Alison king) that Mick might have escaped from prison again.
Lisa does her best to reassure Sally that it’s nothing to worry about.
Then the land line rings twice. But when Sally picks up, nobody answers. Sally is on edge.
When a sudden power cut plunges the whole street into darkness, the ghostly figure appears behind Sally.
Almost hysterical, Sally grabs a vase in panic and strikes the ghoulish intruder over the head.
Who is this mysterious ghost and what do they want?
