KUALA LUMPUR: Two-time Paralympic champion Cheah Liek Hou had to settle for a bronze medal at the Asian Para Games after retiring injured during his semi-final match today.
The 38-year-old was forced to concede the men's singles SU5 match against China's Li Ming Pan at the Ichinomiya Municipal Gymnasium in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, with the score at 21-13, 11-21, 11-7 in the deciding game.
The result ended Liek Hou's hopes of reclaiming the singles gold medal he won at Guangzhou 2010 and Incheon 2014.
He had earlier secured a gold medal after partnering Faris Azri to win the men's doubles SU5 title yesterday, defeating South Korea's Jeon Sunwoo-Kim Gi Yeon 21-8, 21-13 to end Malaysia's 12-year wait for the crown.
