The Hellenic Club Sydney marked its centenary on the evening of 24 October 2026 with a high-profile celebration that drew political leaders, diplomats and prominent figures from the Greek-Australian community.
Among the guests were Australian Prime Minister the Hon. Anthony Albanese, His Excellency Stavros Venizelos, Ambassador of Greece to Australia, and the club’s Patron, Mr Nick Politis AM. Also present were NSW State Ministers the Hon. Steve Kamper, the Hon. Courtney Houssos and the Hon. Sophie Kotsis, along with Consul General for Greece in Sydney Giorgios Skemperis.

The evening further underscored the club’s longstanding ties across community, political and institutional life. Arthur Sinodinos AO and Arthur Spyrou, the former Australian Ambassador to Greece.

Past presidents and current board members of the Hellenic Club were also in attendance, as were community and media figures including Chris Gavralas of Greek Plateia and Adriana Mageros of News 24.

During the celebrations, Nick Pappas was made an honorary patron of the Hellenic Club.

The gathering reflected the Hellenic Club’s century-long role as a cornerstone of Greek-Australian life in Sydney, bringing together representatives of government, the Church, diplomacy and the broader community for the milestone occasion.
