GTA 6 is going to take up a serious amount of hard drive space, as the game’s most famous leaker reveals the size of an early build.
Aside from constant downloads, one of the biggest annoyances with modern gaming is the never-ending battle for hard drive space.
Some games are worse than others in hogging up room. Call Of Duty games, between the campaign, multiplayer, and Zombies, are always a chonker approaching 200GB when combined together. Open world games are typically a nuisance too, with GTA 5 and Cyberpunk 2077 hovering around 100GB, depending on your platform.
As such, Rockstar’s highly anticipated GTA 6 was always expected to be on the beefy side, and now that seems to have been confirmed.
The info comes from noted GTA 6 leaker Cyberleek, who has been posting clips from the game in an attempt to earn cryptocurrency from fans. After causing havoc a few months ago, the leaker reappeared recently with nude clips and threats to release the entire game online.
As part of the latter threat, Cyberleek claims the ‘playable build’ of GTA 6 takes up over 200GB.

However, there are some caveats to this figure. Firstly, it’s unclear what build Cyberleek actually has. All signs suggest it is an early debug version, and these are typically larger than the final release because the files haven’t been compressed yet.
It’s also not clear whether his build includes the main story campaign, as he’s showed virtually nothing of it. If it doesn’t then that is going to mean the final file size is even bigger.

Bearing these two factors in mind the file size could be reduced to something around 150GB, but it’s difficult to say without concrete knowledge of what Cyberleek actually has access to.
We’ll likely get concrete numbers around GTA 6’s file size in the run-up to launch next month, from insiders with access to backend store listings.
Whatever the size ends up being, it will only get larger when the inevitable online component comes out – although that might prove be a separate download from the base game.
GTA 6 is set to launch across PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 19, 2026. According to reports, the PC version is expected in early 2027.
