Devlet Bahçeli, leader of Turkey’s Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), has issued a warning directed at Greece, arguing that military alliances and weapons purchases cannot guarantee the country’s security without peaceful relations with its neighbors.
In remarks reported Tuesday, October 13, Bahçeli urged Athens to “learn lessons from history” and questioned the effectiveness of Greece’s defense agreements and military procurement programs.
“Greece, whatever alliances it forms and whatever weapons it acquires, cannot feel safe without securing peace with its neighbors,” he said.
Bahçeli says Turkey will not be intimidated
The MHP leader also rejected the idea that Greece’s military buildup could intimidate Turkey, adopting a firm tone in his remarks.

“If it is arming itself to intimidate us, let it not even entertain the thought: No power can intimidate us,” Bahçeli said.
His statements directly linked Greece’s security to its relations with Turkey, while his appeal to history added a pointed dimension to his message.
Bahçeli’s comments focused on Greece’s defense partnerships and military acquisitions, arguing that these measures alone cannot provide security without peaceful relations between neighboring countries.
“Yunanistan tarihten ders almalı”
MHP Genel Başkanı Bahçeli: Yunanistan kimle ittifak kurarsa kursun, hangi silahları alırsa alsın, komşularla barış tesis etmeden kendini güvende hissedemez. Bizi korkutmak için silahlanıyorsa aklından çıkarmasın, bizi hiçbir güç korkutamaz. https://t.co/3A8XxpzzVR
