Italian kitchen brands Scavolini and Valcucine, distributed locally by Modularity Home, opened their interactive showrooms to local and international interior designers and design enthusiasts during their annual event, showcasing some of the brands’ signature kitchen systems.
Titled “Italian Encounters,” the immersive event turned the two showrooms in Rockwell Center, Makati City, into the opening stop for participants of the Manila Interior Design Summit (MIDS) 2026, an annual event organized by the Philippine Institute of Interior Designers (PIID).
On Sept. 30, BusinessWorld had the opportunity to explore the showrooms, which feature kitchen systems from Scavolini and Valcucine. Speakers, architects, interior designers, and other industry personalities participating in MIDS also visited the spaces.
Built around four elements — Design, Sound, Taste, and Light — Italian Encounters brought the showrooms to life through a multisensory experience that allowed attendees to see, hear, taste, and interact with the Italian kitchen designs, according to Modularity Home.
During the tour, attendees were able to prepare their own food and drinks using Scavolini’s kitchen systems. Music and lighting complemented the experience, highlighting how kitchens can serve not only as spaces for cooking but also for gathering, entertaining, and everyday living.
The event also provided an opportunity for industry professionals to socialize and exchange ideas while exploring the kitchen systems on display.
One feature that caught my attention was an intricately designed beverage cabinet equipped with a motorized opening and closing mechanism that complements the overall kitchen design.
Founded in Italy in 1961 and 1980, respectively, Scavolini and Valcucine bring different approaches to kitchen design, combining aesthetics and functionality with innovation and sustainability. Their systems reflect how the modern kitchen has evolved beyond a place for preparing meals into a living space where technology, design, and everyday experiences come together. — Edg Adrian A. Eva
