A Chennai-bound IndiGo flight from Delhi was diverted to Hyderabad on Sunday, October 11, after smoke was detected inside the aircraft from a passenger’s personal electronic device.
According to FlightRadar24, IndiGo flight 6E 6115 departed from Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport at 1.30 p.m and was scheduled to land at Chennai International Airport at 4 pm. Following the incident, the flight was diverted and landed at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) at about 3.15 p.m.
“The cabin crew responded promptly and the situation was brought under control. In line with the established protocols, the pilots diverted the flight and landed safely at Hyderabad. An alternate aircraft has been arranged to continue the journey to Chennai. We regret the inconvenience caused to our customers due to this unforeseen situation and are making all efforts to minimise it, including offering refreshments and sharing timely updates,” the airline said in a statement.
