In case you didn’t know, there’s a lot of crossover in the country music scene that’s seemingly led to behind-the-scenes drama. Whether she wants the attention or not, chart-topper Ella Langley can’t seem to catch a break.
After she was involuntarily thrown into Kristi Noem’s dig at Kacey Musgraves earlier this week, the “Choosin’ Texas” hitmaker was name-dropped by her rumored ex and former collaborator, Riley Green, on a recent episode of The Voice.
On the September 22 episode of the fan-favorite reality series, Riley attempted to convince country duo Ferryn & Brinkley to join his team after all four of the celebrity coaches turned their chairs during their blind audition.
“There was a girl that reminded me a lot of y’all. I took her on tour with me. Her name’s Ella Langley. She’s doing pretty well,” he quipped, referencing Ella’s record-breaking 51-week streak on the Billboard Hot 100. The pair had also gone on the road together in 2024 and 2025, hot off the success of their duets “You Look Like You Love Me” and “Don’t Mind If I Do.”
It didn’t take long for his comments to reach Ella. During an Instagram Live on Thursday, October 8, a fan asked the “Be Her” singer, “When Riley took credit for your success on ‘The Voice,’ did that rub you the wrong way?!”
She surprisingly responded as she got her glam done before an event, saying, “Yeah, when that man took credit? No, didn’t love that, but typical. Typical. Pretty typical.”
As a screen recording of Ella’s livestream circulated online, fans left mixed reactions in the comments.
Some defended Riley, with one person writing, “Completely twisted his words btwwwwww. He was just trying to get them to go to his team lol.” Another said, “He said ‘I took her on tour. She’s doing well’ no credit was taken anywhere.”
A few of Ella’s Fellas chimed in, too. “I didn’t know who Riley was until Ella,” one claimed. Someone else added, “It’s ok Ella. We all know you have worked hard to get where you are!!”
If all of that ^^^ wasn’t enough to stir the pot, Ella seemingly unfollowed Riley on Instagram…though he still follows her, as of October 14.
A rumored rift between the country crooners has been making headlines since (at least) December 2025. According to a Deuxmoi report at the time, Riley “‘dated’ Ella when they were on tour together, then that [kind of] crossed over with Megan [Moroney].”
The drama hasn’t been confirmed, and Riley has yet to weigh in on Ella’s response. Who knew country music also came with a side of piping hot tea?
