ⓘ Dynabook
Dynabook has introduced a new laptop in Japan, dubbed the V83/PA. Equipped with up to a Core Ultra 7 365 "Panther Lake" CPU and up to 32 GB of RAM, the 2-in-1 laptop is likely to command quite a hefty price tag.
Dynabook is quite a well-known Japanese brand particularly in the realm of office laptops, owned by Sharp Corporation. The brand has announced a new 2-in-1 lightweight laptop equipped with potent Intel CPUs, as well as a healthy array of ports.
To be precise, the new laptop, dubbed the V83/PA, can be equipped with up to an 8-core Intel Core Ultra 7 365 CPU with multi-core performance that is a few percentage points ahead of the aging Apple M3.
Clearly, performance on offer is decent, but nothing quite worth writing home about.
Lower-end SKUs with the 8-core Intel Core Ultra 5 325, 6-core Core Ultra 5 335, and Core Ultra 7 355 chips are also available. All the variants can be equipped with up to 32 GB of LPDDR5X-7467 RAM and up to 1 TB of solid-state storage.
A 13.3-inch TFT display with a resolution of 1,920 x 1200 sits at the front. Exact color coverage and other crucial details of the display are unclear. The 16:10 aspect ratio grants a healthy amount of vertical real estate, which should help with specific workflows that can take advantage of it.
The Dynabook V83/PA laptop can be used in multiple modes, courtesy of its 360° hinge. The touch-enabled display also allows it to be used as a tablet, which is pretty neat. Moreover, support for pen input is present.
The I/O on offer has been detailed below:
- Dual Thunderbolt 4 Type-C
- Dual USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A
- HDMI
- microSD slot, SIM slot
- 3.5 mm audio jack
- Ethernet
- WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, optional 5G cellular
Customers can always take advantage of a decent Thunderbolt 4 dock (Ugreen 8-in-1 currently $180 on Amazon) to expand connectivity as per individual requirements.
Other notable features include up to 16 hours of claimed battery life, a 5 MP/ 9 MP front camera with facial recognition support, fingerprint scanner, and stereo speakers. At just under 990 grams or 2.18 lbs, the Dynabook V83/PA laptop is impressively lightweight as well.
Pricing and international availability
The laptops have already been launched in Japan, with prices likely to be revealed soon. For more information regarding the systems, interested customers can refer to Dynabook's website directly.
The Sharp-owned brand does have a notable presence in the international market, including the USA. This makes a US launch quite likely, although the exact timeframe for the same is yet to be made official.
