Stickers are a favorite feature on WhatsApp. Users can make their own stickers from images and videos, whether they are static or animated, with no limits. Now, according to Android Authority, WhatsApp plans to upgrade stickers by adding sound.
Android Authority looked at the latest WhatsApp version (v2.26.41.11) and found signs of a new feature that lets users add sounds to stickers. They tested it and found promising results.
When making a new sticker from an image, users will notice a sound wave icon in the toolbar on the right. Tapping it lets them add a sound to their sticker by recording their voice or choosing an audio file from their device. The audio can be up to 10 seconds long.
If you make an animated sticker, WhatsApp will add 5 seconds of audio from the original video by default. You can also swap this for a custom audio file from your device. After sending the sticker, a speaker icon will show up so you can turn the audio on or off.
Android Authority also found another new feature. WhatsApp will soon let users remove the outline that usually appears when making stickers. There will be a toggle for this in the sticker creation toolbar.
Another small update is a redesign of the message box. WhatsApp is testing a two-line box where attachments, GIFs, stickers, and photos move to the bottom line, and you type your message on the top line. These features are still being developed, so the final version may look different from what’s shown now.
