The Isa Local Government Council in Sokoto State has introduced free medical services for residents as part of efforts to address a disease outbreak and reduce its impact on affected communities.
The council chairman, Sharehu Abubakar Kamarawa, said the intervention was designed to ensure that residents, especially vulnerable households, could access medical attention without worrying about the cost of treatment.
He explained that the initiative was part of the local government’s response to the public health challenge, stressing the importance of prompt medical care in addressing the situation.
Kamarawa said his administration would continue to collaborate with relevant health authorities and other stakeholders to strengthen the response to the outbreak and safeguard the health of residents.
He urged residents to seek medical attention as soon as they notice symptoms associated with the disease, warning against delays that could worsen their health conditions.
The chairman also called on community members to cooperate with healthcare workers, observe preventive measures and adhere to public health guidelines to limit further transmission.
He assured residents that the council would continue to monitor developments and introduce necessary measures to minimise the outbreak’s impact.
Kamarawa encouraged eligible residents to access the free medical services and urged anyone suspecting an infection to report to the appropriate health authorities for assessment and treatment.
