One of the humorous recurring themes to big-time sporting events in Milwaukee is teams staying downtown at the Pfister Hotel, the highest profile hotel in town and one that also happens to be haunted. Allegedly.
Just ask the litany of MLB players who have stayed there in the past.
Well, the Tampa Bay Rays have a counter punch in their World Series against the Milwaukee Brewers: The Vinoy Resort & Golf Club, where MLB teams stay when they're in town. And guess what? It also happens to be (uh, reportedly) haunted.
The St. Petersburg waterfront resort, opened in 1926, seems to have generated its own collection of eerie stories from MLB players and personnel.
The "Lady in White" is a particularly alarming feature of the Vinoy, seen floating down the fifth floor adorned in a white dress that appears to be from the early 1920s.
Trevor Megill told The Athletic and The Washington Post that he has seen "orbs" during his stay at the Vinoy. Megill, for what it's worth, also believes the Pfister is "for sure" haunted.
So why do teams keep staying at either hotel? As the Post pointed out, the hotels are one of the few locations in the area that offer suites large enough to accommodate large traveling parties.
