The incident reportedly unfolded on the set of their Hulu reality series, The Kardashians, after Kris got hold of an advance copy of Citizen Kim: The Woman Who Created the Future, a book penned by journalist Jonathan Van Meter following five years of research into Kim's life and career.

Van Meter shared the details of the confrontation during a recent interview, explaining that Kim herself rang him to relay what had happened.
According to the author, Kim had been at younger sister Khloé Kardashian's home when she found out their mother had caused a scene during filming.
"Why did Kim drag us all into this? Why is my affair from 30 years ago in the book?" Kris reportedly shouted, as recounted by Van Meter based on what Kim told him.
Van Meter did not name the individual involved in the affair referenced in the biography.
However, Kris has spoken openly in the past about a relationship she had with Todd Waterman in 1989, at a time when she was still married to her first husband, the late Robert Kardashian.
The two had wed in 1978 and eventually divorced in 1991, having had four children together: Kourtney, Kim, Khloé and Rob Kardashian Jr.
As recently as 2023, during an episode of The Kardashians, Kris sat down with Khloé to address the affair, admitting she had made a serious error in judgment.
"I think that I fell into a situation where I thought that the grass was greener somewhere else," she said, describing it as one of her deepest regrets.
Van Meter noted that the tension between mother and daughter appeared to ease within a couple of days, though he hinted that viewers might eventually witness the fallout when it airs on the family's show.
As for Kim, she reportedly had no intention of backing down from her involvement in the project.
Van Meter recalled her explaining that despite years of intense media scrutiny directed at her family, this book gave someone with genuine insight into their world the chance to present a fuller, more considered picture of their lives.
The author described that reasoning as the clearest window he got into why Kim agreed to participate in the first place.
Citizen Kim: The Woman Who Created the Future is set for release on 27 October 2026. Representatives for both Kim and Kris had not responded to requests for comment at the time the story was first reported by Page Six.
How does Kris want to be buried?
Elsewhere, Kris surprised her daughter, Kim, by revealing her unconventional post-death wishes during an episode of their family show.
Kris shared her plan to be cremated and have her ashes transformed into a diamond, explaining that she wanted to handle her own arrangements to save her children from future stress.
Kim, visibly stunned by the idea, reacted with a mix of disbelief and humour, questioning whether the stone would be a "real diamond" or comparing the display setup to the magical rose from Beauty and the Beast.
