Mike Tomlin had a visceral reaction to watching Cam Skattebo’s overtime fumble on Sunday.
Prior to the bizarre ending of the 27-27 tie between the Giants and Commanders, Big Blue had a chance to get off a game-winning field goal, but a fumble by the running back at Washington’s 24 yard-line ruined their chances.
The mishap left the longtime Steelers coach-turned-NBC studio analyst feeling “disgusted.”
“I describe it as disgusting. Division wins are too precious in the National Football League,” Tomlin said on the broadcast after the game. “I was disgusted by the Skattebo fumble. I threw up in my mouth a little bit at the end of the game.

Skattebo’s fumble got overshadowed by the Commanders’ blunder in the final seconds, which more remembered when walking away from the bizarre game.
“It’s just tough. We’ll never know what happened,” Tomlin said. “The head coach (Dan Quinn) said what he’s supposed to say. the quarterback (Jayden Daniels) said what he’s supposed to say. But it’s just tough, man. Division wins are very precious and they had one in their hand and they let it slip away.”
After putting together five plays toward the end zone in an effort to win the game on a field goal, Daniels was sacked with eight seconds remaining.
Upon realizing that, the quarterback scrambled to get up and put the ball on the line of scrimmage to spike it. But the clock expired without giving his kicker a chance at what would have been a 42-yard field goal.
It was a baffling result of miscommunication as it seemed Daniels assumed the Commanders had a timeout to use. They did not.
The 25-year-old also didn’t throw the ball away to stop the clock.
The moment led Commanders coach Dan Quinn furiously throwing his headset to the ground at the missed chance for a win.
Both Quinn and Daniels took the blame after the game.
“We got to stop the clock. We got to know the zone situation. We’ve gotta relay that as an offense,” Daniels said. “It starts from everyone — top down. Ultimately it’s on me.
No NFC East team won in Week 5 and two of them played each other.
The Giants still lead the division at 3-1-1 while the Commanders are in last with a 1-3-1 record. The Eagles and Cowboys are both 2-3 after losses to the Jaguars and Buccaneers, respectively.
The Giants are set to host the Saints (1-4) in Week 6 at MetLife Stadium.
