Lotte Chilsung Beverage (005300.KS) said on the 21st that it has completed a new logistics center in Daedeok District, Daejeon, and began full operations this month. The building covers about 3,700 pyeong, or roughly 12,200 square meters, with total floor space of about 6,000 pyeong, or roughly 19,800 square meters.
The center is linked to production facilities at the company's existing Daejeon plant, integrating every stage from manufacturing to picking, packaging, transport and shipping. It is the first one-stop logistics system the company has introduced.
The facility also features a 44-meter-high automated storage and retrieval system (AS/RS) — equivalent to a 15-story apartment building — that handles product storage and inbound and outbound processing automatically. Automated guided vehicles (AGVs) have been deployed to move and stack products.
A central control room inside the center monitors operations in real time using a warehouse management system and an equipment control system. Based on accumulated data, the company plans to adjust product movement routes and work sequences and respond to fluctuations in shipment volumes.
The Daejeon center serves as the central hub managing the nationwide supply chain and as a regional logistics base for the Chungcheong area. The company said it aims to improve inventory operations and delivery systems by region and strengthen the stability of product supply.
Inventory management functions have also been reinforced to prepare for shifts in demand. The company has secured safety stock sufficient for more than 10 days of supply, allowing it to adjust volumes flexibly according to market conditions. Loading and unloading conditions have been improved as well, enhancing quality control and the stability of on-site operations.
"We plan to continue optimizing and upgrading our logistics system to respond flexibly to changes in the distribution market and keep strengthening our competitiveness," an official at Lotte Chilsung Beverage said.
