The late-season heat is giving way to cold winds. Morning temperatures on the 14th will drop by as much as 10 degrees Celsius from a day earlier, meaning commuters will need heavy outerwear.
Cold air flowing in from the northwest will push morning temperatures below 10 C across most of the country on the 14th, the Korea Meteorological Administration said on the 13th. In inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon State and parts of inland southern regions, morning lows will fall to around 5 C.
Among major cities, morning lows are forecast at 9 C in Seoul and Daejeon, 10 C in Incheon, 7 C in Chuncheon, 11 C in Daegu and 14 C in Busan. Daytime highs will range from 18 C to 22 C, putting the daily temperature swing at about 15 degrees.
Strong winds will make it feel colder still. Gusts of about 55 kilometers per hour are expected nationwide, reaching 70 kph in mountainous areas.
When strong winds accompany falling temperatures, conditions feel far colder than the thermometer reading. Skies will be mostly clear nationwide, while Jeju Special Self-Governing Province will see cloudy skies clearing gradually. Ulleung Island and Dokdo may get about 5 millimeters of rain.
Temperatures will fall further on the 15th. Morning lows of 4 C to 12 C will bring ice to mountainous parts of Gangwon State, with frost expected in inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon State, North Chungcheong Province and parts of inland southern regions. Fine dust levels will be "good" in all regions.
