This past weekend, Jim Nantz tried to punch a football out of JJ Watt during the Las Vegas Raiders and Buffalo Bills game, and he paid for it, comparing himself to famous boxer Manny Pacquiao.
Nantz appeared on The Pat McAfee Show to provide an update on his hand. He conceded that he went “a little too aggressive” with his Peanut Punch attempt.
“Some are saying that it was the greatest punch thrown in Vegas since Pacquiao a few years back,” he joked. “I gave it my best, and as soon as I did it, I regretted it, because I felt like everything had been compressed, and I did think I was gonna wake up Monday with this thing [his wrist] about triple the size.

“I’m not gonna be on the injury report this week. I’m gonna be good to go, no broken bones,” he continued.

Even Josh Allen reached out to Nantz after the game. A former United States president also reached out, and Pat McAfee theorized that it was Barack Obama.
Nantz tried his best to knock the ball out of Watt’s hand. He seemingly earned his respect for going as hard as he did, even if his attempt was unsuccessful.
It’s unlikely he will try a similar stunt this week. Nantz is 30 years older than Watt, and his hands can’t be taking such a beating. At least he doesn’t have a brace on it.
Nantz and Watt are paired in the booth this year after Tony Romo’s OWI arrest. This led Romo and CBS Sports to “mutually part ways” after nine years. Romo, a former NFL quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, was the network’s lead color commentator for nearly a decade. The OWI arrest allowed his seat to open up, and Watt has replaced him for this season. In six weeks, he has already given viewers a memorable moment with Nantz’s Peanut Punch attempt.
