The Special Court trying former First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar and seven co-accused says it has completed its investigation into alleged threats against the accused persons and their lawyers.
Presiding Judge Dr. James Alala Deng announced the development during today’s court session.
He said individuals identified during the investigation have been referred to the Attorney General and the police for further action.
The issue was raised by the defence team last month.
The lawyers told the court that the lives of the eight accused persons and their legal representatives were at serious risk.
Following the concerns, the court ordered an investigation into the alleged threats.
The court later said police, court personnel and other security personnel linked to the alleged security concerns had been removed from the court premises.
Judge James Alala did not identify the individuals involved.
However, he directed the Attorney General and the police to take appropriate action against those identified through the investigation.
The court has not provided further details on the nature of the alleged threats or the specific actions expected from the authorities.
