KUALA LUMPUR: It was the easiest way to a squash title for Harleein Tan.
Her opponent, Jinoreeka Ning, gave a walkover due groin injury in the PSNS 3k Challenger final at Seremban 2 Sports Complex on Sunday.
Harleein had a much harder time in the semi-finals, overcoming Whitney Isabele Wilson 11-2, 9-11, 8-11, 12-10, 11-1. Jinoreeka upset Jemyca Aribado of the Philippines 11-5, 10-12, 13-11, 8-11, 11-4 in the last four.
Harleein, who won a team silver in the World Junior Championships in Canada in July, said: "I'm really happy to win my third PSA title this year, especially here in Negri Sembilan, my home.
"The final was not how I expected it to end, as Jinoreeka had to retire. I was looking forward to a good match with her and I hope she recovers soon," said Harleein, who will compete in the North Coast Open from Oct 28 to Nov 1 and NSW Open in Sydney from Nov 3-7.
Meanwhile, second seed M. Nickhileswar won the men's title with a 11-8, 11-5, 11-9 win over Hafiz Abdul Harif in the final.
