PETALING JAYA: The chairman of a statutory body in Penang will reportedly be charged tomorrow over the sale of eight plots of land belonging to the agency that caused RM1.96 million in losses.
The man in his 50s who has a "Datuk" title will be charged at the George Town sessions court tomorrow morning, Berita Harian reported.
The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission previously arrested the chairman and four others to assist with its investigation into the case, which purportedly occurred in 2015.
The other suspects were two company directors, a technical manager and a female clerk, all in their 40s and 50s.
The statutory body chairman is alleged to have abused his position as then deputy chairman and director in 2015 to approve the sale of the land in Seberang Perai Selatan below market value to a company believed to be linked to an associate.
