Students throw rocks, eggs at cops in Turin amid anti-government protests across Italy

(ANSA) - ROME, 16 OTT - Rocks and eggs were thrown at police by high-school students in Turin on Friday amid anti-government protests across Italy demanding more funding for schools and less for arms. "Money for schools, not for war" and "Fewer weapons, more rights" were some of the slogans chanted by students who have taken to the streets in various Italian cities, following the recent occupations of their schools. In Turin, several hundred young people marched, shouting slogans against the government, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Minister of Education Giuseppe Valditara, and general-turned-politician Roberto Vannacci, the leader of the new far-right party National Future (FnV). Demonstrations also took place in Rome, where firecrackers were thrown at the education ministry, Genoa, Venice, Padua, and Treviso. In Cagliari, the protest was dubbed a "No Meloni Day." (ANSA).
