Switzerland has added six names to its list of associates of ousted Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro, whose assets in Swiss banks could be seized.
The list released by the government late Friday also took two names off the previous sanctions schedule, which now has 41 names including Maduro, who was captured by US forces in January.
The six new names include businessman and former industry minister Alex Saab and his associate Alvaro Pulido Vargas. Both were recently deported to the United States by acting president Delcy Rodriguez.
Taken off the list were Marleny Contreras, the wife of Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello, and lawmaker Jorge Arreaza, head of a parliamentary commission guiding through an amnesty law that could see the release of all political prisoners.
The Swiss asset freeze order is effective for four years.
Foreign countries targeting funds in Swiss banks have to make an official request and provide proof that legal proceedings have been started over the origin of the funds involved.
