The Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has signed an agreement for a cabin modernisation programme covering selected Boeing 777 aircraft, Business Recorder learnt on Monday.
The programme forms part of PIA’s ongoing efforts to further enhance its long-haul cabin product and improve the onboard experience for passengers, according to a report from Airline Suppliers, which said the programme would be supported by aviationscouts as part of the Aerotec Group.

As per the details, the agreement includes five confirmed Boeing 777 aircraft with options for an additional four aircraft. Beyond the cabin modifications, the programme also encompasses engineering support, certification activities, material procurement and logistics, project management, and technical coordination.
“Execution will be carried out in line with PIA’s fleet planning, maintenance schedule and operational requirements to support an efficient implementation,” the report read.
“Following the completion of the privatisation process and the transition to the new consortium-led Board and management, PIA has embarked on a renewed journey focused on elevating the passenger experience and enhancing the quality of our onboard product,” PIA CEO Muhammad Amir Hayat was quoted as saying.

“This is a phased transformation, and as the project progresses, our passengers will experience tangible improvements in cabin comfort, functionality, and the overall onboard environment. We are committed to ensuring that PIA’s long-haul product continues to evolve in line with contemporary aviation standards and the expectations of our passengers,” Amir Hayat said.
Frank Kusserow, CEO of Aerotec Group, was quoted as saying, “We are honored to support Pakistan International Airlines in this important cabin modernisation programme. Last year, Pakistan government concluded the sale of a 75% stake in its national carrier, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), for Rs135 billion, giving an end to years of stalled efforts to privatise the loss-making airline.
Arif Habib consortium bought the managing stake in the national carrier.
In April this year, Arif Habib consortium acquired the remaining 25% shareholding in the PIA from the government, elevating the private sector ownership in the national carrier to 100%.
