Jaylen Brown expressed several emotions when the Celtics traded him to the 76ers. He finally got to showcase his skills against Boston in the final preseason game before the regular season.
The No. 3 pick in the 2016 NBA Draft was traded to Philadelphia over three months ago in exchange for draft picks and Paul George. He didn’t play in the 76ers’ first game against the Celtics, but did score 22 points in his preseason debut against the Cavaliers.
In the Celtics' 125-120 overtime win against the 76ers, Brown scored 20 points in 31 minutes. He also added eight rebounds, three assists, and two blocks. It remains an odd situation, but Brown made the most of his time on the court against his old team.
Brown helped lead the team to the playoffs last year after Jayson Tatum was out with an injury. Now, he looks on as the new-look team focuses on life without him.
"I played there for 10 years, so it’ll never be out of the way," Brown said via NBC Sports Boston. "But it was good to see some of the young guys. Spent a lot of time with those guys. Seeing them developing and getting better, it’s good to see."
The next time Boston faces the 76ers will be on November 10 in Philadelphia. The Celtics won't host the 76ers until January 21.
