After delivering a cliffhanger ending in season 6, fans of Slow Horses are wondering how the story could continue once season 7 rolls around. The fans are in luck—the MI5 agents of Slough House are clocking back in for another season, and the franchise doesn’t seem to be headed for an end anytime soon.
“I know that Gary [Oldman] has expressed a desire to play Lamb forever and that Mick [Herron] is still writing the books, so I hope it will go for as long as people want it,” the show’s executive producer, Will Smith, said in an October 2024 interview with TV Insider.
Here’s everything we know so far about Slow Horses season 7.

Has Slow Horses been renewed for season 7?
Yes! In July 2025, Deadline confirmed that Slow Horses would come back for a seventh season. The streaming platform greenlit the show’s seventh season before the fifth season of the show aired.
Who is in the cast?
Gary Oldman, Jack Lowden, Kristin Scott Thomas, Jonathan Pryce, Hugo Weaving, Saskia Reeves, Rosalind Eleazar, Christopher Chung, Aimee-Ffion Edwards, Joanna Scanlan, Tom Brooke, Lucian Msamati, and Olivia Cooke are confirmed to return for season 7 of Slow Horses.
On October 19, Apple TV announced that Varada Sethu (Andor, Doctor Who), Ethan Moorhouse (The Moment, Ludwig), Tuppence Middleton (Downton Abbey: A New Era), Merab Ninidze (Homeland), Joshua McGuire (Anatomy of a Scandal), and James Callis (Bridget Jones’s Diary)—who is returning—will join the season 7 cast.
What is season 7 about?
According to an official press release, the season “is adapted from the Bad Actors novel in the Mick Herron Slough House book series, and sees Lamb and his Slow Horses on the hunt to find and neutralize a mole at the heart of the British Government before they can bring down the state.”
The official synopsis for the book reads:
“In London’s MI5 headquarters a scandal is brewing that could disgrace the entire intelligence community. The Downing Street superforecaster—a specialist who advises the Prime Minister’s office on how policy is likely to be received by the electorate—has disappeared without a trace. Claude Whelan, who was once head of MI5, has been tasked with tracking her down. But the trail leads him straight back to Regent’s Park itself, with First Desk Diana Taverner as chief suspect. Has Taverner overplayed her hand at last? Meanwhile, her Russian counterpart, Moscow intelligence’s First Desk, has cheekily showed up in London and shaken off his escort. Are the two unfortunate events connected? Over at Slough House, where Jackson Lamb presides over some of MI5’s most embittered demoted agents, the slow horses are doing what they do best, and adding a little bit of chaos to an already unstable situation… There are bad actors everywhere, and they usually get their comeuppance before the credits roll. But politics is a dirty business, and in a world where lying, cheating and backstabbing are the norm, sometimes the good guys can find themselves outgunned.”
When will season 7 premiere?
Season 7 of Slow Horses has no premiere date yet. Season 6 arrived on Apple TV in September 2026, while season 5 aired in September 2025. Season 7 could arrive sometime in fall 2027, if it follows the same timeline as the previous seasons. We’ll have to wait until Apple makes an official announcement.
