Reports indicate Green Bay Packers superstar running back Josh Jacobs will return to practice on Wednesday and could play against the Detroit Lions in Week 7.
He served his time on the NFL's commissioner's exempt list, and Green Bay hoped it would eventually get him back. That's exactly what happened for a team looking to improve its run game, a promising sign for the Packers as they look to win a Super Bowl.
Among the biggest problems for certain teams in the NFL this year, the Packers' run game was at the top of the list.
As a contender, the Packers' run game wasn't going to put them in a position to win.
After missing the first six weeks of the season, Jacobs will have to show he can be the player everyone expects him to be, and Green Bay coaches are understandably excited to have him back.
“Josh [Jacobs] will definitely help, for sure,” said OC Adam Stenavich on the run game issues, H/T Heavy “He’s an excellent player, and he’ll provide some good spark for our offense. So, I’m excited about that. But we just all need to do a better job.”
In the 2025 season, Jacobs played in 15 games, attempting 234 carries for 929 yards. He averaged 4.0 yards per carry, including 13 touchdowns. In 2024, he was even better, rushing for 1,329 yards and 15 touchdowns.
