Tom Arnold was flabbergasted that his ex-wife Roseanne Barr was actually complimentary toward him.
The 67-year-old actor and comedian reacted to the cancelled 73-year-old star defending him from The Big Bang Theory creator Chuck Lorre who alleged there were miscredited scripts during their time on iconic sitcom Roseanne.
Lorre, now 74, was a staff writer on the sitcom from 1990 to 1992 and claimed that Arnold's name had been credited on scripts that were actually penned by other writers.
Arnold and Barr had met in the 1980s, married in 1990, and divorced four years later in 1994 as during that time Arnold had served as a writer, actor and producer on the ABC sitcom.
As the two had a very contentious split and have continued their war of words until recent years including radically different political views, Barr surprisingly came to the defense of her ex-husband.
She told The Hollywood Reporter on Tuesday: 'Unbelievably — I don't think you'll hear me say this often — but Tom Arnold is telling the truth for once.

'Talk about the paradigm switch here. Tom Arnold is defending me. I have to thank him for that. That's the first time he's done something right by me in his f***ing life. Thanks, Tom.'
Arnold was in disbelief over his ex's defense of him as he later took to X to write: 'Don't give up. Don't ever give up. 33 years ago I predicted I would do something so cool my 1st X Wife Roseanne would be forced to say something almost nice about me. Hell finally froze over today.'
Arnold previously addressed Lorre's claims that he took credit for the scripts of other writers directly.
He told Entertainment Weekly: 'I never would put my name on a script that [Lorre] wrote.
'Roseanne and I sat around talking about what we wanted to do in the next season, or maybe some ideas we had that'd be fun episodes, or groundbreaking, or whatever our bulls*** was, and I'd write them down.'
Arnold went on to explain the writing process with his then-wife and explained that it was always a team effort.

He said: 'We kind of doodled around. And then, you know, in probably June, the head writer and the writers would come back and the show starts shooting in August.'
The actor went on to say that 'every writer's fingerprints' were on Roseanne scripts.
The legendary sitcom had originally run from 1988 to 1997.
It was then briefly revived in 2018 before Barr was fired due to racist social media posts about Valerie Jarrett who is a former senior advisor to Barack Obama.
Arnold and Barr famously had a very bitter split in April 1994 after rumors of the husband having an affair with their assistant, Kim Silva, which sparked a violent clash on-set of the sitcom.
It was claimed at the time that Barr had cut up his credit cards, changed the locks of their home, filed for divorce, and alleged both physical and emotional abuse.

Ultimately, the former power couple's divorce was finalized with Arnold reportedly receiving a multi-million settlement in the $20 million range in addition to a split in property and business interest (Above, in Los Angeles in September 1989)

Barr also obtained a restraining order with those abuse claims but temporarily withdrew the charges and divorce petitions before officially moving forward with the separation.

Barr was killed off on the sitcom universe built on her name as spin-off The Conners began in 2018 with the death of her character. It ultimately lasted for seven seasons before the series finale in 2025.
