DIMAPUR: Kiphire District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) held its monthly meeting on October 15, 2026, at the DC’s Conference Hall, Kiphire, under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Temsuwati Longkumer.
Briefing the members, the DC spoke on the unfortunate incident at Pungro town and several villages under Pungro and Kiusam Circle, and informed that the situation was now under control. He reminded officers that as responsible members of the district administration, they were duty bound to serve the people regardless of circumstances, and urged them to ensure safety, security and rehabilitation of the affected families.
Acknowledging the appeal made by the United Sangtam Likhum Pumji (USLP) for peace and harmony between the two communities, the DC highlighted that many students had lost their academic essentials and uniforms, while several families had lost their homes. He appealed to officers and the Officers’ Club Kiphire to extend assistance in any possible way.
The House strongly condemned the acts of violence and stressed that disputes must be resolved through dialogue and understanding, noting that “if two heads don’t come together, lasting solution will never be arrived.” The DC further urged members to spread the message of communal harmony and informed that he had toured the affected areas to take stock of the situation.
During the meeting, Urban Development Department presented a PowerPoint on solid waste management, while District Strategy for HIV and AIDS (DISHA), Kiphire conducted an awareness session on HIV and AIDS.
