Earlier today, Princess Catherine and Prince William joined the rest of the British royal family in welcoming Haitham bin Tariq al Said, the Sultan of Oman, to Windsor Castle, where he will spend the next three days on a state visit, marking the first time an Omani monarch has traveled to the United Kingdom in over 40 years.
This morning, the sultan was greeted with a welcome ceremony, which was followed by a customary state banquet in the evening. And a banquet can only mean one thing when it comes to the Princess of Wales: a stunning tiara moment.

After bundling up this morning in an emerald-green coatdress from Alexander McQueen layered over a lacy black blouse, Kate put on her black-tie best for dinner.
For her dress, the princess chose a lemon-yellow cape look from the Elie Saab Spring/Summer 2025 ready-to-wear collection. The design featured a woven crew neck and an empire waist, with pleated fabric throughout. A matching bodysuit could be seen underneath the semi-sheer skirt, and for a majestic finish, the design featured a diaphanous cape that trailed behind Kate.

To pair with her radiant dress, the Princess of Wales chose an equally dazzling headpiece, which just so happens to be one of her favorites—Queen Mary’s Lover’s Knot Tiara. Since debuting the tiara in 2015, Kate has worn this accessory on a number of occasions, most recently while welcoming Nigerian President Bola Tinubu and first lady Oluremi Tinubu for a different state banquet this past March.
Originally made by fine jewelry house Garrard for Queen Mary in 1913, the tiara was eventually passed down to Queen Elizabeth II, who lent it to the late Princess Diana on a number of occasions. Now, Kate has made it a staple of her wardrobe, and in doing so, she keeps the stylish legacy of her royal forebears alive and well.

For a few finishing touches, Kate wore the Royal Victorian Order sash and star, as well as the King Charles III Royal Family Order ribbon. In her hand, she carried a bedazzled gold clutch, and she popped on diamond chandelier earrings and a bracelet, both of which once belonged to Queen Elizabeth as well.
