The Golden State Warriors kicked off their 2026-27 NBA season Wednesday night, but this organization has far more storylines than usual.
The Warriors are still dealing with multiple injuries, including a recent report that Kristaps Porzingis is being viewed as a trade candidate due to an ongoing health problem.
The Warriors are also hopeful that, at some point over the next couple of months, they'll get a fully healthy Jimmy Butler back on the court. For now, it remains uncertain when Butler will return, but head coach Steve Kerr shared an encouraging update on the veteran, saying he looks good, feels good, and is doing well.
“He’s doing great. I just talked to him this morning. He was in our weight room. He looks good. He feels good,” Kerr said of Butler, per Logan Murdock of The Ringer.
In years past, one could argue the Warriors could give Butler time to return.
However, given Golden State's lack of talent on both sides of the ball outside the obvious guys, getting Butler back soon will be a priority.
If the Warriors are confident he'll be good to go in the near future, it wouldn't be surprising to see them put him back on the court. The Warriors need all the help they can get, and Butler is as big of a piece as anybody on this roster to help with that.
