Your Mercury Retrograde Horoscope Is Bringing the Drama

Prepare yourself: the third and final Mercury Retrograde of 2026 is happening from October 24 to November 13, and it's a big one. Of course, all Mercury Retrogrades involve miscommunications, technological issues, and travel delays. If you drop your phone on the subway tracks and end up late to work because you need to ask someone to fish it out for you, that's typical Mercury Retrograde chaos.

This particular Mercury Retrograde is in Scorpio, meaning that all that Mercury Retrograde stuff gets an extra boost of theatrics because Scorpio is nothing if not dramatic. It also coincides with Venus Retrograde, which began on October 3 and ends on November 13 (yes, the same day Mercury Retrograde ends—go ahead and schedule a “the retrogrades are over!” party). All retrogrades involve the things the particular planet rules going "backwards"; for Venus, that's love, beauty, and money. Ugh.

During this Mercury Retrograde in Scorpio, we'll see a Full Moon in Taurus on October 26 and a New Moon in Scorpio on November 9. Full Moons are always a great opportunity for reflection while New Moons are a perfect time to set new goals. With all this cosmic chaos going on right now though, it's a good idea to keep your plans and reflections in a journal until both Mercury Retrograde and Venus Retrograde are over. Then, in mid-November, you can start putting all those thoughts into action without the stars throwing obstacles in your way.

Take a step back, Aries. Mercury Retrograde occurs in your 8th House of transformation, offering you a chance to pause and observe all the massive personal growth you're currently in the middle of. Do you like the person you're becoming? What, if anything, do you want to change? Take these weeks to ponder on these questions, and then put your plans into action after the retrograde ends.

Trouble in paradise, Taurus? With Mercury Retrograde in your 7th House of relationships, plus Venus Retrograde, you're likely dealing with conflict within at least one of your closest relationships. This could be a romantic partner but it could also be a best friend or creative collaborator. When disagreements arise—and they will—give the other person the benefit of the doubt. Odds are it's just a simple misunderstanding.

It's Gemini against the world. Mercury is moving backwards through your chart's 6th House of routine. While this means you're likely avoiding any major dramas like layoffs, breakups, or shocking news, you're probably dealing with a thousand tiny annoyances instead. Think train delays or traffic jams, your phone breaking down, and forgetting your password. It can feel like death by a thousand cuts. Resist the urge to throw out your entire schedule, because when Mercury Retrograde ends in mid-November, things will get much easier.

It's writer's block, Cancer. Mercury Retrograde occurs in your 5th House of creativity and for the next few weeks, it's blocking all sources of inspiration. This is a good time to review and revise your past work rather than start something new. Whatever you do, don't give up; after Mercury Retrograde ends in mid-November, the ideas should start flowing freely again.

Family drama, Leo? Mercury Retrograde moves through your 4th House of home and family. If you find yourself butting heads with your parents or arguing with your siblings, you can blame Mercury. You might also end up dealing with issues around your house like a leaky faucet, broken blender, or spotty wifi. Hold off on making any big purchases until after Mercury and Venus Retrograde end in mid-November.

Watch your words, Virgo. With Mercury Retrograde hanging out in your 3rd House of communication, it can feel like everything you say (or text, or post or email) comes out wrong. You tend to be more introverted, and now it's harder than ever to translate your thoughts into words that others can understand. Whenever you can, take a beat to think through what you want to say before you say it. The cloud will clear soon.

Avoid impulse purchases, Libra. Mercury Retrograde moves through your 2nd House of valuables, so don't be surprised if you end up with a surprise bill or a delayed payment. Watch your spending habits extra closely for the next few weeks, because you might end up needing to draw from your emergency fund.

Who are you, really, Scorpio? Mercury Retrograde is happening in your sign, which can translate to a mini identity crisis. You might be tempted to make a drastic change, like deciding to type in all lowercase letters or get a Fleabag-esque haircut. Keep the changes small, like a new favorite emoji or a different shade of lipstick, because odds are you'll be bored of them by the time the retrograde ends.

Think twice, Sagittarius. Usually, you can trust your intuition, but with Mercury Retrograde moving through your 12th House of the subconscious, your gut feelings just might lead you wrong. That doesn't mean you should ignore them. Instead, take some time to analyze why you're feeling this way before you act on instinct. When you can, it's a good idea to watch and wait.

Group chat drama, Capricorn? With Mercury Retrograde moving through your 11th House of friendships, you're likely to deal with some misunderstandings and conflict among your friends, or at least your acquaintances. When disagreements come up, take time to think through what you want to say before you send that text. Or better yet, don't send it at all.

As Blink-182 said, "Work sucks, I know." Mercury Retrograde is in your 10th House of career, and it feels like everything is going wrong on the job. You might get passed over for a promotion or bonus, or get stuck with a bunch of boring busy work. Try to remember that these issues are temporary, not permanent; you should feel more on track in a few weeks. So don't rage quit.

Feeling stuck, Pisces? Mercury Retrograde is moving through your 9th House of travel, and you might be feeling trapped. If you do decide to go and explore somewhere new, give yourself plenty of time to make your flight because delays are likely right now. If you stay home, this is a great time to reminisce over past travel memories and maybe finally make that Instagram Reel you've been thinking about.
