Vision has spent years searching for answers about who he is and what it means to be human. Now, Marvel’s VisionQuest puts his identity crisis at the forefront, forcing him to confront a past he can’t quite remember and a future he can’t predict.
Paul Bettany returns as the synthezoid Avenger in the final series of the WandaVision trilogy, but this time, he has a new problem to contend with: his own memories. After being rebooted, Vision is trying to piece together his identity while navigating an unexpected reunion with his genocidal creator, Ultron (James Spader).
The miniseries also introduces a mysterious boy whose connection to Vision could change everything.
Bettany compared Vision’s journey to the classic tales of Pinocchio and Frankenstein, explaining that the character is wrestling with questions about who made him, where he belongs, and whether he is good or bad.
As Vision pieces together his complicated past, he must decide who he is and who he can trust as he faces an uncertain future. What does the future hold for Vision? How many episodes of VisionQuest are there, and when can you watch them? Here’s everything you need to know.

What Is Marvel’s VisionQuest About?
Following the events of WandaVision and Agatha All Along, Vision is trying to make sense of a life that no longer feels entirely his own. According to the official synopsis, Vision has been rebooted and is hiding from those seeking to weaponize him. Now working at a pub in Edinburgh, he keeps a low profile while sorting through his memories and searching for a clearer sense of identity. Along the way, he turns to the AI personalities embedded in his programming for guidance, including familiar MCU assistants F.R.I.D.A.Y. (Orla Brady), E.D.I.T.H. (Emily Hampshire) and J.A.R.V.I.S. (James D’Arcy).
But his biggest problem may prove to be Ultron, the powerful AI villain who helped create Vision. James Spader returns to the role for the first time since Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) as the series explores what happens when the two are forced to reckon with their complicated history.
Showrunner Terry Matalas said the idea to bring Ultron back came from a desire to explore Vision’s identity crisis.
“I wanted that last scene in Avengers: Age of Ultron between the two of them to go on for another 127 minutes. Then, it dawned on me: ‘What if all of that was the series?’” he explained to Disney.
Vision’s journey takes another unexpected turn when bounty hunter Paladin (Todd Stashwick) tracks him down and abducts Thomas Shepherd (Ruaridh Mollica), a mysterious boy who may be the reincarnation of Vision’s son. As they evade capture, Vision must confront his own nature, resist Ultron’s influence and figure out who Thomas really is.
