KUALA LUMPUR: Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) continued their perfect start to the Super League season with a commanding 3-0 victory over Terengganu at the Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium in Gong Badak on Sunday.
The Southern Tigers needed 26 minutes to break the deadlock when talismanic striker Bergson da Silva found the back of the net.
Three minutes before the interval, Oscar Arribas doubled JDT's lead with a clinical finish.
In the 64th minute, referee Razlan Joffri Ali pointed to the penalty spot after JDT defender Kevin David Medina brought down Gervane Kastaneer inside the box. However, Mateus Gustavo failed to score for the Turtles.
The Southern Tigers struck again through Shahab Zahedi for their third goal.
The win keeps JDT perched comfortably atop the standings with 18 points from six matches, while Terengganu remain ninth with five points from five games.
At the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei DPMM FC mounted a spirited second-half comeback to edge 10-man Kuching City 3-2.
The hosts got off to a flying start when Dalberto Luan Belo turned in Farris Izdiham Awang Kechik's delivery in the sixth minute.
Kuching City responded through Australian forward Dylan Wenzel-Halls, who restored parity in the 28th minute before completing his brace five minutes into the second half to put The Cats 2-1 ahead.
However, the tide turned against the visitors in the 62nd minute when playmaker Petrus Shitembi, who had already been cautioned for unsporting conduct in the 53rd minute, picked up his second yellow card and was given his marching orders.
DPMM wasted no time capitalising on their advantage as Azwan Ali Rahman pulled the home side level in the 64th minute, and just three minutes later, Dalberto struck his second of the evening to seal all three points.
