Construction of a $22.7m fire station in Yanchep has officially begun.
Work started on the station, which is strengthen emergency response capabilities across the northern corridor, at 128 Yanchep Beach Road on October 22.
It is expected to be ready by early 2029 and have 36 full-time firefighters based there.
Emergency Services Minister Reece Whitby said the facility would ensure families and businesses in the fast-growing area are kept safe from a range of hazards.
“The new facility and its additional 36 firefighters will help provide a more efficient emergency response and support existing local volunteer brigades who continue to valiantly serve their communities,” he said.
Yanchep’s nearest career fire station is more than 12km away in Butler.
Butler MLA Lorna Clarke said delivering career firefighters for the area was important as each summer brought hotter weather and bushfires.
“This new Yanchep fire station is an investment in the community safety of Yanchep, Two Rocks, and surrounding suburbs,” she said.
