THE Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has relocated the 2026 National Capital Market Conference from the Presidential Villa, in Abuja, to the Afreximbank African Trade Centre, as it prepares to unveil a 10-year roadmap for the development of Nigeria’s capital market.
The conference, scheduled for today, will feature the launch of the Nigeria Capital Market Master Plan 2026–2036 (NCMMP 2.0), which is expected to provide a framework for the market’s development over the next decade.
In a notice announcing the change, the commission said the event would now hold at the Afreximbank African Trade Centre, Plot 1573, Central Business District, near the Ministry of Finance, off Ralph Sodeinde Street, Abuja.
Proceedings will begin at 10 a.m., with participants expected to be seated by 9:30 a.m.
The conference will be chaired by the Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, while the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy will host the event.
A major highlight will be the unveiling of the new master plan, which is expected to set the direction for capital market reforms, market deepening and improved mobilisation of domestic savings over the 2026–2036 period.
The conference will also feature the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding among the SEC, Financial Sector Deepening Africa (FSDA) and the Nigeria Revenue Service on fiscal incentives for national savings.
The agreement is expected to advance discussions on the use of fiscal incentives to encourage savings and strengthen the capital market’s role in channelling funds into productive investments.

Another key activity will be the inauguration of the NCMMP 2.0 Project Steering Committee and the Capital Market Masterplan Implementation Committee, which will support the coordination and implementation of the new roadmap.
The committees are expected to provide institutional oversight for translating the master plan’s objectives into actionable initiatives across the capital market.
The relocation comes ahead of the conference, which will bring together key stakeholders to discuss the future direction of Nigeria’s capital market and the implementation of measures designed to strengthen its contribution to economic growth.
The SEC did not state a reason for the change of venue in its announcement.
