The Tommies men’s hockey team fell to 1-2 on the season after a 3-1 loss to Minnesota State at the Anderson Arena on Friday night.
Lucas van Fleet gave St. Thomas the early lead with an even-strength goal at 4:13 of the opening period.
However, the Mavericks knotted the game at 1-all before the initial intermission. The visitors added a single goal in the second and third periods while holding UST at bay to claim the win.
Tommies goaltender Ajay White made 18 saves, while his teammates were largely stymied by MSU goalie Lassi Lehti’s 51-save performance.
St. Thomas will get another crack at the Mavericks at 6 p.m. Saturday night in Mankato.
