SEOUL, Oct. 14 (Yonhap) -- Foreign Minister Cho Hyun held phone talks with his Singaporean counterpart, Vivian Balakrishnan, on Wednesday to discuss Korean Peninsula affairs and regional security, Seoul's foreign ministry said.
The call followed Balakrishnan's visit to Seoul in May, which came after his meeting with North Korean Foreign Minister Choe Son-hui in Pyongyang, highlighting Singapore's diplomatic engagement with both Koreas.
Singapore has maintained diplomatic ties with both Seoul and Pyongyang, and previously hosted the landmark 2018 summit between U.S. President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.
"The two ministers exchanged views on the Korean Peninsula and regional issues, and agreed to work together for regional peace and stability," the ministry said in a release.
Separately, First Vice Foreign Minister Park Yoon-joo held the second bilateral strategic dialogue with Eksiri Pintaruchi, Thailand's permanent secretary for foreign affairs, in Bangkok on Thursday.
The two sides stressed the need to swiftly conclude negotiations on a South Korea-Thailand Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and discussed cooperation on intellectual property protection, combating online scams and curbing drug smuggling.
